『ハーヴェスト』のコンセプトと音楽性

『ハーヴェスト』は、カントリーロックを基調としながら、フォークやロックの要素を取り入れた作品です[24]。
アコースティックな曲調が中心となっていますが、これはヤングが当時腰を痛めており、重いエレキギターを持てなかったことが影響しています[24]。

制作時のエピソード

アルバム制作中、ヤングは腰の手術を受けており、体調不良と闘いながらの録音でした[26]。
また、録音セッションの様子を映画監督のデヴィッド・マイヤーズ（David Myers）に撮影させ、後にドキュメンタリーとして公開されています[31]。

興味深いエピソードとして、完成間近のアルバムをGraham Nashに聴かせる際、ヤングは湖の真ん中でボートに乗り、家と納屋をそれぞれ左右のスピーカーにして再生したというものがあります[4][34]。
